Sort by date

Sorry if this has been asked before.
There doesn't seem to be a way of knowing which way the 'Sort by date' is actually sorting. Like, how to know if it sorts oldest to newest or newest to oldest?

You can only sort it from newest to oldest, the top is newest and the bottom is oldest.
